Hello! My name is Cassandra Whitney.
I am a stay at home mother of three children. Two handsome boys and a beautiful baby girl.
In our home education is very important. Being a stay at home mom has allowed me to have the honor and the privilege of teaching my children. I am a firm believer in starting children in the process of learning early in life (which I think starts in the womb). With the right essentials, they will be well on their way to being successful. They will choose to build a home and not settle for a concrete pad so to speak.
I know first hand how imperative it is to begin teaching children from the beginning of life. As I stated before, I am a stay at home mom of two boys. My oldest was diagnosed with ADHD(Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), OCD(Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), and Autism ( a developmental disability)(perfect combination huh?). It has truly been a challenge raising him with these disabilities. Despite these limitations he has progressed so much through life. He has done extremely well in school. He has been in a general education setting and not in a special education class since he has attended school. I was adamant that he was to be among typical peers. I am so glad I did because he has maintained honor roll status throughout school. His IQ was tested and was found to be 137+( I say plus because he grew tired of testing. He didn’t want to finish). I would like to believe I had a hand in that because I provided him with the appropriate tools and stressed the importance of learning. I bestowed upon him the necessities of education and he has exceeded beyond my expectations. He is the most inquisitive person I know. I am always in awe of the questions that he comes up with sometimes. Things that a typical person would never think about. I have to admit that its drives me crazy at times, but for the most part I thoroughly enjoy being challenged. As for his disabilities, it just goes to show no matter what resrictions or obstacles we have or face in life, if we have what we need from the beginning we can prosper.
My youngest son doesn’t exhibit any signs of disabilities. He too is well on his way to being like his big brother. He’s barely three years old and already knows his alphabets( recognizes them not just sings the song) his numbers, colors, and shapes. I have the privilege of being instrumental in him knowing these things. I think of my son as a sponge. He wants to absorb everything. He is always asking questions and wants to learn about everything he can. I teach him daily and encourage his learning by making all moments a chance to educate him. I want him to have every opportunity to learn and also to have fun doing it. My intentions are to continue to have him stay home with mom until it’s time for him to attend elementary school. The possibilties of the knowledge he will obtain in the next four years is endless. I will not hender his learning. The more he wants to learn, the more I will teach him.
I am proud of my children. I will continue to make education a top priorty. I now get the chance to do it all over again with the next baby. I want them to know that you are always learning. Education never stops. It is acquired throughout life no matter how long you live. As long as you are open to learning new things.
If given the proper fundamentals and encouragement with which to build a foundation, I honestly believe with all my heart children will choose to build a home and not settle for the concrete pad.
